"I'm not mad at you."
"Are you okay?"
"They're killing me."

These weren't spoken on a battlefield. They were spoken during immigration enforcement operations.

When a government's actions leave families living in fear, communities traumatized, and civilians dead, I believe we have a responsibility to ask difficult questions.

This looks like state-sanctioned terror carried out in 2026 by the world's largest democracy.

We're not mad enough.

Silence doesn't make injustice disappear. It only makes it easier to repeat.

🚨BREAKING: Today, the United Nations called for independent, impartial, and effective investigations into deaths and alleged human rights violations in U.S. immigration detention. That should stop every American in their tracks.

Here's the uncomfortable truth: immigration enforcement did not begin with Donald Trump. Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump all deported immigrants under their administrations. In fact, Barack Obama oversaw more formal deportations than any modern U.S. president during his eight years in office, earning criticism from immigrant advocates at the time. Biden's administration also carried out deportations at levels that, in some years, exceeded those of Trump's first term.

But this moment isn't just about deportation numbers.

When the United Nations publicly raises concerns about deaths in immigration custody and calls for independent investigations, it signals that the world's attention has shifted to human rights, accountability, transparency, and due process.

Regardless of political party, no American should be comfortable seeing our country scrutinized by the international community over allegations of human rights violations. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard, not because the UN says so, but because that's what our Constitution, our values, and our humanity demand.

Human rights are not partisan. They are universal.
