was organized in 1975, the Council is a community based organization comprised of volunteers and was established to gather information on community issues and provide a public forum for the discussion of community concerns. plays a principal role in representing residents and businesses in an effort to achieve projects that will enhance and promote social and economic growth in the South End. Some

of the Council's functions include sponsoring neighborhood elderly and youth events, working with neighborhood businesses regarding special permits, zone changes, liquor licenses and other business and residential concerns.

City of Springfield Veterans Department Looking for Volunteers for Flagging of Cemeteries for Memorial Day

SSpringfield's Department of Veterans' Servicesis looking for volunteers to help with the flagging of Springfieldโ€™s cemeteries for Memorial Day. Cemetery flagging will take place from Saturday, May 9th through Sunday, May 24th.

Springfieldโ€™s Department of Veteransโ€™ Services will flag all publicly owned and maintained cemeteries within the city.

Those interested in volunteering can contact the City of Springfieldโ€™s Veterans Department at (413) 787-6141.
