Believe it or not, these photos are NOT AI! Troop 1176 and Scouts BSA troop 1518 for boys spent Memorial Day weekend in the New River Gorge riding the swollen river! Our older Scouts had a blast getting soaked, while the younger Scouts ran some awesome zip line courses nearby.

Troop 1176 participated in today's International Scouts Trash the Trash Day and picked up more than 300 pounds of trash this morning. The on-ramp to the Fairfax County Parkway from Rolling Road was horribly covered in years of bottles, cans, wrappers, and random garbage that were clogging up drainage ditches and tangled in the natural trees and grasses. Many thanks to the Scouts and parents who worked hard this morning to make our community just a bit cleaner!

Tonight we celebrated a very special milestone: Troop 1176's first Eagle Court of Honor! Congratulations to JG on her fantastic achievement!

On Sunday, we continued our long-term conservation project at Rolling Forest Park. Scouts worked on moving, splitting, and stacking large sections of trees that were previously dropped by trained, professional adults because they were unhealthy and in danger of falling.

The more, the merrier!

Many parents ask if women can serve as leaders in Scouts BSA boy troops. The answer is yes ⚜️ Women can serve in leadership positions. They can also attend campouts and outings with the troop.

All adult leaders follow the same requirements. Training and background checks help keep youth safe. Youth protection rules guide how adults work with Scouts during meetings and outdoor activities.

Women already support many troops across the country. Their skills, planning, and care help strengthen the program and support youth in meaningful ways 🌲
