Betty is a petite, low-riding 10-year-old Bluetick Beagle gal who is ready for the next chapter of her life—and she’s hoping it’s a peaceful one.
Betty has spent most of her life living outside and raising babies. Now that those days are behind her, she’s looking for something she’s never had enough of: a quiet, loving retirement home where she can simply be a dog and enjoy being cherished.
Betty is a timid, gentle girl who can take a little time to feel comfortable. Once she trusts you, though, she is eager for affection—just on her terms. She would do best with someone who understands that love doesn’t have to be rushed and is willing to let Betty blossom at her own pace.
🐾 Dog friendly! Betty enjoys the company of other dogs, and she especially likes larger breed dogs. Her ideal canine companion would be a calm, mature dog who won’t overwhelm her and can peacefully share the home with her.
🏡 Her ideal home: Betty would prefer a quiet household without small children living in the home. She has been around a 5-year-old in her foster home, and visits from children are fine, but she would be happiest without the constant activity of young kids.
🚽 House & crate trained: Betty is both house trained and crate trained, as long as she gets regular opportunities to go outside.
👩 A female handler may be her preference: Betty may feel most comfortable with a woman as her primary caregiver, although the most important thing is someone patient, gentle, and willing to earn her trust.
🌳 Secure yard required: Betty needs a securely fenced yard or should be leash-walked only. She should not have access to an unsecured yard or be allowed to roam.
Betty isn’t looking for an adventurous, busy lifestyle. She’s looking for a soft place to land. A cozy bed, a peaceful home, regular potty breaks, a calm dog friend, and a person who will patiently show her what it means to be loved—that’s the retirement she deserves.
