🚨 YOU DIDN'T RESCUE THE CAT. YOU PICKED IT UP.
I'm getting tired of seeing, "I rescued this cat, but I can't keep it! Someone needs to come get it ASAP!"
And then everyone applauds.
"You're an angel!"
"Thank you for saving that baby!"
Hold on a damn minute.
You picked up a cat, immediately made it someone else's responsibility, and somehow walked away wearing the superhero cape.
Meanwhile, an already overwhelmed rescue is expected to find space, pay the vet bills, provide food, arrange transportation, and find that cat a home.
You got the applause. Someone else got the responsibility.
Let me be clear. Not everyone can keep a cat, and asking for help is absolutely okay.
But there's a difference between asking for help and dumping the entire responsibility on someone else while congratulating yourself for being a hero.
Help find a foster. Help with transportation. Help with vet expenses. Volunteer at the rescue/shelter. Stay involved. DO SOMETHING.
Rescues are not magical dumping grounds with unlimited money, space, and time.
Rescue isn't about who gets the credit. It's about who does the work.
So please, stop confusing picking up a cat with actually rescuing one.
You don't get to wear the cape when someone else is doing the rescuing.
If rescue were EASY then magically more people would be doing the hands on hard work. It takes everyone who cares about cats to plug in and figure out how to help those with
