Strap on your explorer boots and join us for Nature Thursdays on August 6 at 10:30 a.m. 🥾💧

Your preschool-aged ecologists will join Gunston Hall educators for a themed storytime and a guided nature hike through the woods and waterways of Gunston Hall. Along the way, they'll enjoy hands-on activities that build preschool readiness, encourage respect for the environment, strengthen gross and fine motor skills, foster self-expression, and more!

August's theme is Water. We'll be reading Water Is Water, written by Miranda Paul and illustrated by Jason Chin. Together, we'll observe the weather and learn about the seasons. During our guided hike, we'll help water plants in the garden, create a raincloud craft to practice fine motor skills, and take home a fun counting activity.

This program runs rain or shine, so come prepared to explore outdoors and dress for the weather!

The American Red Cross is urging Alexandria residents to donate blood as a nationwide shortage puts pressure on hospital supplies. Local donors can help patients in emergencies, during surgeries, cancer treatments, and other critical medical situations by scheduling a blood donation appointment.
