Staff Shout-Out: Nick Johnson 📣📣📣

We would like to recognize Nick Johnson for his quick thinking, courage, and selflessness this morning.

While on his way to work, Nick witnessed a truck run off the road and flip onto its side. Without hesitation, he stopped to check on the driver and quickly realized the vehicle was on fire. Nick acted immediately, kicking in the windshield and helping the driver escape the truck.

As Nick was leaving the scene, the truck exploded, making it clear that his swift actions may have saved the driver's life.

What makes this story even more remarkable is that after ensuring help was on the way and the driver was safe, Nick continued on to his shift so that the individual he supports would not be left without care.

Nick's actions exemplify courage, compassion, and dedication—both as a member of our community and as a member of the Nova Center of the Ozarks team. We are incredibly proud to have him and his support out in the community.

Thank you, Nick, for being a true hero and for living out the values of service and support every day!

Our Day Program staff recently assisted individuals with planting flowers 💙🌱

Through activities like this, staff help support individuals in practicing everyday skills such as patience, following directions, teamwork, and fine motor coordination in a hands-on and encouraging environment. Tasks that may seem simple to many people can require extra time, repetition, guidance, or support depending on the individual.

Moments like these are about more than planting flowers. They help build confidence, encourage participation, and create opportunities for individuals to feel comfortable working alongside others in a shared activity.

Staff who work in our ISL homes are not there to do things for the individuals—they provide the support necessary for individuals to live meaningful lives with as much choice and independence as possible 🏠

Through our ISL (Independent Supported Living) homes, individuals are able to experience freedom while receiving individualized support based on their needs. These homes provide opportunities to build routines, develop daily living skills, make personal choices, and participate in their communities while maintaining safety, stability, and dignity.

Our goal is to support individuals in living as independently as possible while ensuring they have the tools and support needed to succeed in everyday life. 💙
