It's been a week since our first ever Steward Summit and we're still floored by the amazing growth of our member leaders over the past year. Over 200 union members have participated in steward training in the first year of our contract! This year we're excited about new developments including monthly Steward Council meetings, more shared decision-making, and a new Steward Training 201 to support trained stewards in deepening their representation and organizing skills.

We had a great time sharing some books in the Mount Vernon community, thanks to the support of AFT and First Book! One of AFT's mottos is "real solutions for kids and communities" and the project is a perfect example. We love to spend the day supporting our students with some books to read as they prepare to head back to school! We appreciate Supervisor Storck and School Board Member Mateo Dunne for hosting the Mount Vernon Back to School Community Fair each year and we are always glad to be a part of it!
