Log Landing Scout Camp of Effingham, GA

Log Landing Scout Camp of Effingham, GA Log Landing Boy Scout Camp is situated on the banks of the Ebenezer Creek in the heart of Effingham The Ebenezer creek is fed by a number of tributaries.

The camp location is ideal for fishing, canoeing or kayaking on the Ebenezer Creek, as well as many other Scouting activities -The camp is a "primitive" site, meaning there is no electricity , modern bathrooms and the well near the pole barn is a manual farm pitcher pump. Over recent years until 2012 it had not been used so much; becoming overgrown and falling into some disrepair. Log Landing Scou

t Camp will create memories in the hearts of our boys! Many of the adults in the region have fond memories and tales of time spent camping here and it's time for a new lease of life. Its pristine lands and location lends to the rich history already surrounding it like the original village of Ebenezer just across the creek from the camp where the tombstones of many a Salzberger can still be seen today. The site was purchased by the Boy Scouts of Effingham back in 1944 and is held in trust by the Springfield Masonic Lodge #440. The location has seen many an adventure, not just from the Boy Scouts - it even has history linked with the civil war! The camp served as a picnic area after that war where those veterans would speak about "that recent unpleasantness." The camp now is the subject of wood badge tickets so it can be rejuvenated and put to good use once more. Understanding the Ebenezer Creek from its beginning to its end offers a better understanding of times before the damming of the Savannah River. The farthest north is Turkey Branch and Runs Branch, these are the NorthWest feeders. The next southerly feeder is just outside North Springfield where Jacks Branch feeds the creek. Along the way Ebenezer Creek is also fed by springs and the creek run can be followed just north of Springfield. There is a split of the creek just south of Stllwell Road where Ash Street and Oakwood Drive meet. This branch seems to be the feeder to the Effingham Park near McCall Rd and GA Hwy 21. The easterly feed has no name and is between Berry Rahn Road and Mock Road Near the power transmission lines. This feeder appears to have been dammed just north of Stillwell Rd and east of Mock Road. The eastern creek feed seems to be in the north west where Turkey Branch and the Runs Branch feeds are the head of the Ebenezer to the west of highway 119. Runs Branch is not far north of the new First Baptist or Early Street end at Hwy 119

South of the Log Landing the creek is fed first by the Little Ebenezer Creek and then by the waste water treatment facilities of Springfield or Effingham County. It then runs just north of Ebenezer Elementary to cross Long Bridge Rd where a public boat launch is located. The creek leads to a final end in the Savannah River near the Jerusalem Lutheran Church where Car Cove boat ramp is located. For Scouts and leaders who wish to win the coveted Ebenezer patch, you must travel the creek from the camp landing to the Long Bridge road landing. If your Troop or Pack would like to use the, we ask in return is you sign up in advance here on our Face Book page and support any development activities where you can. If every Scout were to bring a lopping shearsand work as a group for two hours of Saturday when they camp, the camp would open up more camping area and your Saturday night Bonfires would glow heartily. As any good Boy Scout will tell you - always leave the site better than you found it! Thank you. For more information and to book the site, please contact:
