Due to the fire at 320 W. Washington St, Springfield, IL today, March 25, 2026, CMS has closed the building. Employees at all three agencies in the building, CMS, IDFPR, and IDOI are to work remotely tomorrow, March 26, 2026 in accordance with the respective agency instructions sent by e-mail today. Employees should check their work e-mail daily for future instructions.

IDOI Labor Relations has informed AFSCME Council 31 and AFSCME Local 2224 that any IDOI staff unable to work remotely will be paid tomorrow without loss of pay or benefit time.

CMS and IDFPR staff who normally cannot work remotely and are instructed to use benefit time or authorized dockage should contact AFSCME Local 2224 President Kurt Engelbrecht at [email protected] or Chief Steward Peyton Bernot at [email protected] right away.

All food donations will be delivered to our Springfield Salvation Army Branch.
