Yes, miracles happen, but genuine freedom with hope for a different future and dignity requires an intensive long-term commitment. Project Rescue caregivers’ compassion takes them in the night to the sides of traumatized women and children reliving the horrors of exploitation and fighting the powers of darkness. But through the prayer and tireless commitment of staff, chains are broken-body, mind, and spirit. Women and children are set free to dream dreams of hope, health, and a new destiny in God.

Sadhana’s story did not end with one courageous act of forgiveness.

As restoration continued touching different parts of her life, new opportunities began to open too.

Sadhana completed training as a Pilates instructor and received two job offers. Even when unrest in her country temporarily interrupted her work, she was able to return several weeks later and continue pursuing the future she had worked hard to build.

That matters because survivor restoration is not only about healing from what happened in the past. It is also about having the freedom, confidence, and opportunity to build what comes next.

For Sadhana, forgiveness became one part of that journey. Meaningful work became another. Her healing is still unfolding—and so is the life she is creating.

S*x trafficking is often recognized through a handful of familiar images and stories.

But exploitation does not follow one script.

It can grow out of trust, deception, financial pressure, isolation, family relationships, or interactions that begin online. And when our understanding of s*x trafficking is shaped only by the most familiar scenarios, we can overlook exploitation that looks different.

That matters because recognizing trafficking starts with understanding how control, manipulation, and vulnerability can operate in real lives—not just in the stories we expect to see.

The more accurately we understand s*x trafficking, the better prepared we are to recognize when someone may be experiencing exploitation.

When a survivor allows us to tell her story, we carry a responsibility.

Not just to protect her identity—but to protect her dignity.

Her story may include some of the hardest things she has ever lived through. Sharing it should never mean turning that pain into something consumable, dramatic, or useful at her expense.

So we tell stories with care. We center her humanity, her agency, her healing, and the life she is building now.

Because survivor storytelling should never take power away from the person whose story is being told.

It should honor it. 🦋

What does anti-trafficking ministry look like in Spain?

It often begins long before a woman is ready to leave exploitation.

Project Rescue’s partners consistently enter areas where women are being s*xually exploited—showing up, listening, meeting practical needs, and building relationships without pressure or judgment.

But outreach is only part of the work. When a woman is ready to take a step toward safety, those trusted relationships can connect her to residential care and long-term support as she begins rebuilding her life.

Across partner cities in Spain, 1,391 women experiencing s*xual exploitation have been identified, and 38 women have received residential care.

Behind those numbers are relationships built one conversation at a time.

This is ministry in Spain: being present today so a pathway to freedom is there when she is ready.

Human trafficking doesn’t always fit neatly into one category.

Dalia was promised an opportunity to earn money and support her family. Instead, she experienced both labor trafficking and s*xual exploitation—two forms of trafficking within the same story.

Her experience is an important reminder that the realities of human trafficking can be complex. Recognizing the different ways exploitation can happen helps us better understand what survivors may have experienced and the care restoration can require.

Today, Dalia is restored and serves as a social mediator with the Project Rescue team in North Africa, walking alongside others experiencing trafficking.

The woman who once needed someone to recognize her exploitation now helps others be seen.
