We are thinking of our Scouting friends in the Council, Scouting America tonight.
One of the most iconic Scout camps in the country, Worth Ranch, established in 1930, has suffered catastrophic damage from the Ross Fire in North Texas. Multiple structures have been destroyed, and the full extent of the damage will not be known until crews can safely access and assess the property. Thankfully, no Scouts, campers, guests, or staff were injured, and all camp personnel were safely evacuated.
For generations, Worth Ranch has been a place where Scouts learned, explored, challenged themselves, made lifelong friendships, and created memories that lasted a lifetime. While buildings and facilities can be rebuilt, the memories and the spirit of Scouting created there will live on.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Longhorn Council, its Scouts and Scouters, camp alumni, the surrounding communities, the families impacted by the fire, and especially the firefighters and first responders working tirelessly to protect lives and property.
