The 2026 Illinois State Museum’s Juneteenth art exhibition “noir 6: The Truth” will open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at the Old State Capitol and be on display through September.

Austin Wells and Jaliyah Ross are co-curators for the exhibit, which features artwork from 26 artists.

The Illinois State Museum and State Historic Sites will host the Juneteenth Family Day Celebration from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at the Old State Capitol.

Enjoy art, explore history, engage with Illinois state agency partners and share in the spirit of freedom, unity, and identity. It will also be the opening of ISM’s sixth annual Noir art exhibition, highlighting powerful original works by artists of color from Illinois

McClernand Elementary School will be serving free breakfast and lunch for children from June 8-July 17. Any child may receive a meal, they do not have to be enrolled in District 186.

Meals must be eaten onsite, they are not available for pickup or delivery. Please call District 186 Food Service at 217-525-3046 with any questions you may have.
