Email [email protected] Women Veterans of Southwest Missouri American Legion Post 1214 was issued a permanent charter by the National Headquarters of The American Legion in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 7, 2015. This marks the fifth women's American Legion post to be chartered in the state of Missouri. Veterans from all branch

es and those still serving may apply for membership. Members focus their efforts on the following four pillars: Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation; National Security; Americanism; and Children and Youth. The American Legion is made up of “honorably discharged” veterans of two wartime eras – April 16, 1917 to Nov. 11, 1918; and Dec 7, 1941 to a time later determined by the federal government. Eligibility is open to all military personnel who have served at least one day of active duty service during either of these timeframes. The American Legion has consistently been the largest and most influential veterans’ organization in this country, since its founding by veterans of World War I in 1919, and today has nearly 3,000,000 men and women supporting its membership ranks. I didn't get many photos, and truly wish I would have gotten Former Attorney General John Ashcroft's address on video, it was really beautiful, and very moving. Proud to represent Post 1214 at the National Cemetary Wreath Laying Ceremony, on this cold December morning.
