Friends of Springfield Fire FOSF was founded to bring community involvement & support to SFD fire service personnel & family Reach out if you'd like to sponsor a station meal!

We founded Friends of Springfield Fire in 2022 with our sights set on fostering a community that is continually and wholeheartedly responsive to celebrating and supporting the needs of Springfield Firefighters and their families. We had an inside view to some of the struggles firefighters face, both on shift and at home, because some calls linger far beyond when they actually end. We all know that

first responders are always there for us when we need them, but we wanted to create something bigger than anything we could do alone. We wanted them, and their families to know we would be there for them when they needed us. We currently provide three general avenues of support:

RECOGNITION
We help fund the SFD Annual Awards Ceremony where firefighters are recognized for their heroic efforts from the previous year, and spouses gather for camaraderie. HEALTH
We are funding the Multi Cancer Early Detection (MCED) Screening for Springfield Firefighters. Until now, cancer was not something Springfield Firefighters were proactively screened for. Considering that 66% of line of duty deaths are a result of cancer, we knew this was a call to action. We are in the process of raising funds to cover these screenings for the men and women of Springfield Fire. We also assist in raising funds and awareness for mental health. Studies show that public safety personnel are 5 times more likely to experience PTSD. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We lovingly refer to this as our ‘random acts of kindness’. From delivering meals to the hospital for all the SFD family in the waiting room, to delivering a prepared Thanksgiving dinner to all 13 stations – acknowledgment is how we show our love and support for all that these men and women do every single day. We would love for you to be involved in a capacity that is meaningful for you, or your organization.

Bourbon Society of the Ozarks is at it again! They have generously selected Friends of Springfield Fire as a recipient of HALF of the money raised from the 12 Days of Christmas raffle!

Attention Springfield Firefighters:

We promised CANCER SCREENING, and we are here to deliver.

This is only possible because of the many generous donors of the Springfield Community who knew that investing in the health of our firefighters was crucial.

We have started our phased rollout of the screening, and we are working our way down the seniority list to those who have 5 years and greater on the department.

What we need from you:
A personal email address or cell phone number to send the information for obtaining the screening kit - this will help us ensure a smooth process once we reach your spot on the list. Feel free to add your information to this post, send us a dm, or email us at [email protected]

Our family feels that dinner together is one of life’s simplest yet most meaningful joys. Around the table, we gather not just to eat, but to connect, laugh, and create lasting memories. Whether it’s a holiday meal filled with laughter and stories or a regular weeknight dinner with casual conversation, these moments bring us closer. The clinking of glasses, the passing of dishes, and the exchange of stories create a sense of warmth and belonging. It’s around the table that we celebrate life’s milestones, comfort each other in tough times, and build traditions that are cherished for years to come. These meals remind us that it’s not just the food, but the company we keep, that makes the time so special.

There are 73 firefighters on shift today. Countless friends and family will travel to the station to share a Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones. I can not thank Texas Roadhouse enough for agreeing to cater this special meal. Brittany and Johnny stepped up to the plate in a big way. The level of support they extended for over 200 firefighters, friends, and families is deeply appreciated.

We also want to recognize Hyvee for catering the ham to round out the holiday meal. No meal is complete without the main dish!

Our hope is that this meal brings a little warmth and joy to your Thanksgiving. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do to keep us safe.

We wish you a safe and restful holiday season. From our family to yours, thank you for your incredible service and for being the backbone of our community.

THANKSGIVING MEAL UPDATE:

Texas Roadhouse is supplying:
Salad
Rolls
Mashed potatoes
Corn
Green beans
Sweet potatoes

Hyvee is supplying:
Ham

We have accounted for each firefighter to have two additional people. For example, we are sending food for 27 people to Station 1. Food will be delivered on Wednesday!

No need to share this post, as it's intended as only informational. We will make a post on Thanskgiving that gives Texas Roadhouse and Hyvee our gratitude and acknowledgement for loving on our firefighters and families, and we'd love for you to share away 🥰
