This Memorial Day, we remember the fallen—and we honor them by showing up for those they left behind.

Military moms and spouses carry immense burdens—from giving birth during deployments to raising children in under-resourced systems. The grief of loss is often met with outdated policies and denied support.

❤️TRICARE still doesn’t cover doulas.
Over 11,500 military children are on child care waitlists.
🤍Black women in the military face maternal death rates 3–4x higher than their White peers.
💙Half of mothers with deployed spouses experience postpartum depression.

This is not how we support those who serve.

We are proud to uplift the work of Rep Jahana Hayes and her Caring for Survivors Act, which expands benefits for the surviving spouses of fallen servicemembers. It’s just one of several bipartisan bills aimed at honoring sacrifice with more than words.

This Memorial Day, remember:
Gratitude is powerful. But policy is care.

Let’s honor their legacy by protecting the families they loved.

If you are a military spouse, mother, caregiver, join our military chapter to create the change military families need. Email [email protected].

Chamber of Mothers is uniting moms for a better America through our non-partisan, persistent support of federal paid leave, improved maternal health outcomes, and affordable childcare. We have 42 local chapters across the US —and counting. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

➡️CORRECTION:

Doulas: Covered under the CBSD for eligible beneficiaries receiving care from TRICARE-authorized providers.

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs): Covered by TRICARE.

Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) and Certified Midwives (CMs): Not currently covered by TRICARE.

Therefore, while TRICARE has expanded its coverage to include certain doula services and continues to cover CNMs, it does not universally cover all types of midwives or doulas.

We need you. Moms need you. 💖

📣 Use your voice to make massive impact for maternal mental health in just a few minutes TODAY.

As federal budget cuts continue to make headlines, we partnered with Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance (MMHLA) for this Day of Action to make one message clear: maternal mental health funding MUST be maintained.

This special, one-day campaign will enable anyone in the U.S. to contact their elected officials about the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline and the State Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Program — two programs that have helped thousands of mothers get the support they need.

Go to https://lnkd.in/g-dc8rtW to take ACTION RIGHT NOW!

A few clicks later, an email will be sent to your elected officials urging them to continue funding these critical maternal mental health programs.

Join us in supporting mothers across America.

This is what local advocacy in action looks like!

💪 Our Phoenix/Gilbert Chapter showed up at the Arizona Senate Health and Human Services committee to fight for HB2332, a bill focused on maternal mental health. They testified, connected with lawmakers, built key relationships, and learned how to navigate the legislative process—all steps that will help us make an even bigger impact moving forward!

Through their work, they’ve built relationships with Women Foundation AZ who alerted them on this bill Monday afternoon.

Thank you to Civic Engagement Beyond Voting, who helped the chapter navigate the hearing process.

And a thank you to Representative Julie Willoughby for sponsoring this bill and Senate committee members in support of improving maternal health in Arizona. This is a reminder that improving maternal rights in America is bipartisan.

This is why local chapters of Chamber of Mothers matter—when we come together, we bring the power of real stories, real advocacy, and real change.

➡️ What’s next? AZ’s HB2332 bill moves to the Rulings Committee, then to the Senate floor, and if passed, finally to Govenor Hobbsz

✅ How the chapter is continuing to take action:
📢 Submitting Requests to Speak (RTS) to show support for the bill.
📝 Writing letters to editors to spread awareness.
📬 Calling and emailing lawmakers to keep the pressure on.

Matilda Joslyn Gage dedicated her life to fighting for equality, from leading the suffrage movement and advocating for reproductive freedom to sheltering enslaved individuals on the Underground Railroad. She also championed Native American rights, drawing inspiration from the matriarchal Haudenosaunee society, and spoke out against ageism and the persecution of women during the witch trials.

Her fearless advocacy for justice and inclusion mirrors themes in Wicked—challenging power structures and redefining what it means to be “good.”

At the Chamber of Mothers, we carry forward Gage’s legacy by advocating for policies like paid leave, affordable childcare, and maternal health, ensuring every mother and child can thrive.

✨ Let’s build the future Gage dreamed of. ✨

104 years ago, The 19th Amendment was adopted and officially became part of the U.S. Constitution.

Did you know, that the final vote came down to 24-year-old, Harry T. Burns, the youngest member of the Tennessee General Assembly?

During the initial vote, he wore an anti-suffragist pin and voted against the amendment in what would be a tie vote.

A letter from his MOTHER, Febb Burn, had been delivered to him in the chamber before revoting.

It read: “Dear Son, … Hurray and vote for Suffrage and don’t keep them in doubt. I noticed Chandlers’ speech, it was very bitter. I’ve been waiting to see how you stood but have not seen anything yet…. Don’t forget to be a god boy and help Mrs. Catt with her “Rats.” Is she the one that put rat in ratification, Ha! No more from mama this time. With lots of love, Mama.”

When revoting, Burns voted “Aye," which made Tennessee the 36th state needed for the 19th Amendment to be adopted as a Constitutional Amendment.

But before Burns's vote determined the fate of the 19th Amendment, the success of ratification was a huge movement of people working together who lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied, and practiced civil disobedience for a century to achieve it.

Even after that, it took 60+ years for ALL women to gain the right to vote legally.

Our next book club event is right around the corner 📖 on 8/14 with author of Touched Out, Amanda Montei.

😍 RSVP - https://lnkd.in/gJGqj4Sw

When Amanda became a parent, she struggled with the physicality of caring for children, but even more with the growing lack of autonomy she felt in her personal and professional life. The conditions of modern American parenthood—the lack of paid leave and affordable childcare, the isolation and alienation, the distribution of labor in her home, and the implicit demands of marriage—were not what she had expected.

Touched Out, Explores the stories we tell about psychology, childbirth, sexuality, the family, the overwhelm mothers feel trying to be “good,” and the tender bonds that form between parent and child. It delivers a powerful critique of American SA culture and its continuation in the institution of motherhood, and considers what it really means to care in America.

However, you did a great job letting your Senators know you supported the expansion of the CTC. Thank you for showing up for families across America. This is the action we need.

Katie Britt and Time Kaine introduced new legislation: The Child Care Availability Act and the Child Care Workforce Act.

Swipe to find out how this legislation will help families.
