We recently welcomed a group of students from Springfield Public Schools’ B.A.S.E. Project for their annual tour of our Community Connections and Employment Solutions programs! πŸ’™

The B.A.S.E. Project helps students build career awareness, explore different work environments, and develop the skills they’ll need for life after school. Visiting local programs like ours gives students a closer look at employment opportunities and the services available to support them as they work toward their goals.

We’re glad to continue partnering with the B.A.S.E. Project and helping students explore what their futures could look like!

Therap visited The Arc of the Ozarks this week to highlight how we use their electronic documentation system to support the people we serve! πŸ’™

Their team spent time with staff and individuals across our services, including learning more about our β€œAbout Me” videos. These videos allow individuals to share their preferences, routines, communication styles, and what matters most to them in their own words. They’ve been especially helpful when welcoming new staff and creating more personalized, person-centered support from day one.

We’re grateful to Therap for giving us the opportunity to share how technology is helping us support greater independence and, most importantly, for giving the people we serve a chance to share their stories. We can’t wait to see the finished product! ⭐

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! πŸ’™

At The Arc of the Ozarks, our Employment Services team works with individuals to explore career interests, develop job skills, gain hands-on experience, and find opportunities to participate in the workforce.

That work looks different for everyone. It might mean serving customers through our A.M. Donuts and Coffee Truck, gaining experience at our Auto Detail Shop, providing shred services, or participating in our Summer Work Experience program.

Each opportunity gives individuals a chance to build skills, explore their interests, and discover what’s possible in the workplace.

This month, we're recognizing the importance of inclusive employment and the opportunities that allow people with disabilities to contribute their talents in their communities.
