Happy first day of school, Alice B. Beal Elementary School! 🎈

Our very own Ms. Lynnette joined Mayor Sarno, Superintendent Dr. Dinnall, and school committee member Latania Naylor to speak to students for their first day of school pep rally.

Lynnette delivered a poem about the first day of school being an unofficial holiday and encouraged the students to fall in love with reading.

Welcome back, students! We can’t wait to see what the new year brings.

What is the Science of Reading? 📖🧑‍🔬

The Science of Reading is the name we use for many years of RESEARCH that helps us understand HOW children learn to read and what teaching methods work best.

Hope Literacy provides targeted reading support based on the research about the Science of Reading and Learning.

Tati and Sami joined teachers, administrators, and community leaders in discussing the future of reading instruction at The Next Chapter conference.

Hosted by Teach Plus and Teach For America and funded by The Davis Foundation, The Next Chapter shares advances in the teaching of literacy with educators to make reading instruction more consistent, inclusive, and effective for ALL learners.

According to Teach Plus, 24% of 3rd graders in Springfield are reading on grade level.

Hope Literacy works with students in grades 6-12 to help them move closer to grade level reading.
