I thought I'd rescued a filthy abandoned puppy but after I bathed it, I realized with horror it wasn't a dog at all... 😳😱 I work long shifts at a chemical processing plant on the edge of town. The facility backs up against thick forest, and on my walk home I usually take the narrow trail that runs along the river. It’s quiet there — no traffic, just water and trees.
That evening, the sky was heavy with clouds, mist hovering low over the surface of the river. I had just reached the bend near the bridge when something caught my eye near the muddy bank.

The whole walk, it shook uncontrollably. I told myself it was cold. Or scared. Maybe both.
As soon as I got inside, I ran warm water in the bathtub. The animal didn’t resist as I gently lowered it in. The mud began to loosen, swirling down the drain. Dark water turned clearer.
And that’s when my stomach dropped.
As the fur separated and its shape became visible, something was wrong.
The face wasn’t right.
The muzzle was too long.
The eyes… wrong.
The ears… wrong.
My hands froze.
This was not a dog.
A wave of terror rushed through me as I realized what I was actually holding — and why it had been hiding, silent and shaking, by the river.
I stepped back, heart racing, staring at the creature in the tub as the truth finally sank in…Read more in Comment or Most relevant -> All comments 👇
