March 2nd, 1974- Evanston Firefighters Local #742 made history 50 years ago today when their members returned to work after a 53 hour walk-out.
Union recognition would become an all-too-common point of contention during the AFFI job actions of the 1970's.
Local 742's courage and committment to unionism made their action a success and set the tone for subsequent battles.
