We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to every student across Wisconsin and Northern Michigan who gave to Speed the Light this past year. Your generosity has made a real, tangible impact on the Menominee Reservation. Because of your giving, we were able to purchase a 2015 Chevy Traverse this summer—an eight-passenger vehicle that has already become an essential part of our ministry.
One of the very first ways we were able to use this vehicle was by loading it with supplies and driving to the Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) Reservation to help host a kids’ VBS outreach with Harvest Time Church out of Eau Claire. During that trip, we also had the privilege of training a few teens on how to reach and minister to the children in their own community. That experience not only blessed the kids we served , helped connect a local church to a reservation nearby, but also helped equip young Native leaders to share the love of Jesus where they live.
This vehicle isn’t just a means of transportation; it has become a tool for real ministry and real hope. We’ve used it to help individuals experiencing homelessness, making sure they have rides to safe places and essential services, the Traverse is also used on a regular basis to pick people up for Sunday morning service helping us reach those who might otherwise have no way to attend.
But the most exciting part is what God is doing among our youth. In October, our church launched its first youth group in 45 years. Since day one, this Speed the Light vehicle has been picking up teens each week, some in which do not attend church, and bringing them to a place where they can hear the gospel, build friendships, and encounter Jesus.
