🌪️ June 10, 2026 Sangamon County Tornado 🌪️ per National Weather Service:
EF-1, max wind speed 110 mph, path length 24.14 miles, max width 250 yards.
The tornado began about 3 mile west of Springfield Capital Airport where it lofted 6,000-lb aircraft hangars and rolled an enclosed trailer.
Some of the most significant damage was at the Animal Protective League animal shelter on Taintor Road.
The tornado continued east-southeast, producing tree and building damage around Camp Butler and through Mechanicsburg, damaging several farm outbuildings and trees along its path.
It ended about 5 miles east of Mechanicsburg just north of the Sangamon River.
