Where Our Story Meets Our Strength
There are moments in a community’s history when everything changes, moments that reveal who we are, what we carry, and how we choose to care for one another.
For the Marshallese community, the pandemic was one of those moments.
When COFA families were excluded from SNAP, when incomes disappeared overnight, when funeral costs rose and grief became a daily companion, many of our families, especially our children, stood at the edge of hunger. Not because they lacked resilience, but because the systems meant to protect people did not protect them.
And in that painful truth, something powerful was born.
Enra Food Pantry opened not just as a service, but as a declaration:
that our people deserve nourishment, dignity, and a place where no one has to apologize for needing help.
Before the Compact Impact Fairness Act restored benefits in 2024 before economic mobility began to return, before relief finally reached our families, our community built Enra as a bridge. A place where parents could breathe again. A place where children could grow without fear. A place where our people could practice the generosity our ancestors taught us: share what you have, even when you have little.
And along this journey, we were not alone.
Arvest Bank’s Million Meals campaign and their incredible team stood with us — not in words, but in action.
They raised over 700,000 meals to fight food insecurity across Arkansas and other states, and their support flowed directly into the hands and homes of families who needed it most.
Their partnership reminded us that community is not defined by borders or backgrounds; it is defined by people who choose to care about the place we all call home. We are humbled, grateful, and deeply moved by their commitment to the wellbeing of everyone.
Because Enra is more than a pantry.
It is a mirror.
A mirror that asks each of us:
Where do you see yourself in this story?
As someone who once needed help?
As someone who offered it?
As someone who believes our community deserves more than survival. We deserve abundance.
Enra is the story of a people who refused to let crisis define them.
It is the story of a community that turned hardship into collective strength.
It is the story of giving back in a way that is bigger than any one of us.
And today, as shelves are stocked and families walk through our doors, we are reminded that this work is not charity, it is identity. It is culture. It is love made visible.
This is who we are.
This is how we rise.
This is Enra Bwe Jen Lale Rārā.
Thank you, Arvest Bank
