This fall, help your local waterways by keeping leaves out of the path of stormwater. When it rains, stormwater picks up anything in its path, including fallen leaves, and moves it to the nearest storm drain. Too many leaves hitting the storm drain at once could cause flooding. Leaves that make it into the drain will be emptied into a creek or stream, adding excess nutrients to the water, which can cause uncontrollable algae growth that can lead to decreased oxygen levels and fish kills.

Whether you plan to leave the leaves, compost, mulch mow, or bag and dispose of your leaves, raking or blowing them out of the streets, storm drains, and ditches can help alleviate stormwater pollution and keep your NWA waters healthy.

What an amazing gift!!
Medical debt wrecks families, often creating financial hardships people have to carry until they die. It is one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in our country. We need more of this kind of news on the front page!

Now this is a story we needed today: Dr. Omar Atiq, an Arkansas oncologist, has wiped out $650,000 in bills for his cancer patients. He informed patients of the good news through holiday cards. ❤️✨ (📷: University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences via )

How about some holiday cheer??

Between Dec 6th and Jan 26th, Walmart is matching associate donations 2:1 during its Season of Giving Back campaign as part of the Associate Giving Program (AGP). This means that if a Walmart, Sam’s Club, or affiliated brand associate gives $5 to a charitable organization, Walmart will give $10. Walmart will match up to $3 million during the campaign.

To do this, while on the Walmart network associates can access the Season of Giving Back campaign page and recommend the charity of their choice to receive their donation. To learn more, associates should visit the AGP page on OneWalmart.

I'm working with a few friends to gather info that would support opening an independent bookstore in downtown Springdale.

Great news, Springdale! Let's get our kids protected!

Good news, Springdale families! The COVID vaccine is now available for kids 5-11 at the Joseph Bates Outreach Clinic inside the JTL shop on Emma Ave. They are doing walk-ins; we went right after school and got in and out quickly! *No documentation* is required.

It's time to Crochet in the Park! Arts One Presents & Hillfolk invite you and the family to join us next Thursday, Oct. 28 at Turnbow Park from 5:00 to 8:00 pm for a community craft project. Beginners and experts alike will crochet parts of ornaments that will soon adorn our Community Tree at Shiloh Square for the holidays.

Don't know how to crochet? Learn from a team of expert crochet artists, led by Gina Gallina Duling! All supplies will be provided.

A developer is planning a campground near Fitzgerald Trail in Springdale. One of the concerns is noise - I know for a fact that if a couple of RVs have generators running on the other side of a fence behind someone’s house it will seriously impact the enjoyment of the homeowner’s yard. I love the idea, but I’m not sure the location is right.
