Lower Valley Community Food Bank

Lower Valley Community Food Bank serves the communities of Cheswick Borough, Harmar Township, Indiana Township, Springdale Borough, and Springdale Township.

Lower Valley Community Food Bank is a non-profit organization, serving the communities of Cheswick Borough, Harmar Township, Indiana Township, Springdale Borough and Springdale Township. Approximately 170 families (about 750 individuals) are served. We operate from the Springdale Borough Building on School Street in Springdale PA. Our Mission is to help end hunger and increase opportunities for fa

milies to meet their nutritional needs with health and dignity. Distribution - Food is distributed at the Springdale Borough Building twice a month on the second and fourth Thursdays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Food Bank clients may come for food on both Thursdays. Food may be obtained on an emergency basis by contacting the Food Bank. It is the sole discretion of the Food Bank to determine emergency status, and we encourage the utilization of other emergency organizations such as the Red Cross and the Salvation Army to supplement your needs. Our income sources currently include federal and state grants, area churches and their congregations, private donations, fundraisers, local business, and the United Way. Lower Valley Food Bank is a member agency of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in Duquesne, from which we receive some of our food items. Our Food Bank is operated by a Board of Directors from local churches, members of local businesses, organizations, and the community at large.

A big thank you to Cheswick Children’s Discovery Center for their donation! The students planted a garden and grew vegetables all season to give to us! They also made a generous monetary donation! We can’t thank you enough! 🥒🍅🫛

Distribution is tomorrow Thursday August 27th from 1pm to 3pm at the rear entrance of the Springdale Borough Building. If you live in our service area (Springdale Township, Cheswick Borough, Springdale Borough, Harmar Township and Indiana Township) and are in need of food assistance, please come by. If you aren’t already registered, you can sign up then.

Our last Student Summer Snack Bag handout will be this week! ANY student/family can pick up a snack bag at Latte Lane this Thursday August 6th from 10am - 12noon. Parents, please tell your students to stop by!

Don’t forget we’ll be at Latte Lane tomorrow from 10-12pm handing out Summer Snack bags! ALL students welcome!!

Our Summer Snack Bag program began at last week’s distribution and will continue all summer! However, we’re providing snack bags for ALL school-aged children, not just current clients. ANY student can pick up a snack bag at Latte Lane in Cheswick next Wednesday June 24th from 10 am-12 pm. If you need snacks, please stop in!
