I was pregnant with my second child in the hospital when I saw the news of Sandy Hook…. I immediately worried about my school aged child that was in school at that moment - who didn’t?

I was to a degree reassured by the fact that an armed police officer sat at the front of my son’s small school with cameras showing him the activities of the entire school.

As my children entered public school I asked, what can I do? Why can’t every school have such protection?

A group of us came together to do what we could to help. Maybe it’s not enough but it’s something. If there’s a way you can help in a different capacity - great. Until, then we will continue to fund safety.

I write this the same month I have contemplated closing as the help has been hard to come by but also the same month I stood with several wonderful officers who protect our children daily. Those officers, the fear we have today and our children are why we keep going…

For now, donate to the families. When you think of how you can help your school, do it.

It will take many efforts and all of us helping to make schools safer. Thank you to our donors that have made a difference.

God bless the amazing people that go to work at our public schools everyday as they stand between our children and evil and bless the people of Uvalde.
