Update on 3 Dumped Dogs: Featured first is the Dachshund

Recap: Thank you. Every message, every notification, every kind note feels like an individual hug. On the days when I’m buried in chores or weighed down by the emotional toll that rescue takes, your support reminds me that I’m not alone. I see you, and I’m so grateful. ❤️ For the last 5 days, I’ve been back and forth to the vet, bonding with these dogs in silence and sadness, trying to imagine the pain that led someone to leave them by a dumpster. 🥺😭 Dumping dogs is a crime. Dogs aren’t wild animals—they’re family.

Right now, all 3 are safe at the sanctuary:
🤍 The curly white dog has an eye infection, is badly matted, and may have a broken nose.
👁️ The one with cherry eye needs surgery.
🐾 The dachshund is a blind senior who needs closer supervision.

They came in clinging to each other, but they’re adjusting well and will do fine adopted out individually. My focus now is on healing them and finding homes where they’ll be loved forever.

Their profiles will go into our database today under the temporary names “Big Mama,” “Big Sis,” and “Auntie.”

The dachshund is “Big mama”

Adoption Day w Transport are my favorite! Before anything else, I want to thank our monthly donors. Without your support every single month, caring for dogs like Berenstein simply would not be possible.

When we rescue a dog, the initial fundraiser usually raises enough money to cover intake, veterinary care, and rehabilitation. What those fundraisers often do not cover is the ongoing cost of housing, feeding, medicating, and loving that animal for months or even years afterward. That is where our monthly donors make all the difference.

Without that consistent support, we would be forced to operate like many overcrowded shelters that have no choice but to euthanize for space. Instead, because of our monthly donor family, we can provide a safe haven where dogs are never rushed into the wrong home and can stay with us for as long as it takes to find the right one.

Today, we celebrate one of those incredible success stories.

Berenstein, one of our longest-residing rescue dogs, is officially being adopted into a loving home.

Watching him leave is bittersweet. We have loved him, cared for him, and stood by him throughout his journey. We never gave up on him, and we never felt pressured to place him somewhere that was not the perfect fit.

Today, I have the privilege of delivering Berenstein to his new family, showing him around his new yard, and watching him explore his forever home with pure joy and excitement. Moments like these remind me why we do what we do.

Berenstein’s adoption is not just a victory for him. It is a victory made possible by every person who chooses to support our mission month after month.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping dogs like Berenstein find safety, healing, and ultimately, a place to call home. ❤️

Monthly donors save lives monthly. I’m just here to make sure the lives get saving.

Controversial question. A hunter found them during the storm. Couldn’t keep them. Made the choice to bring mama and her nine puppies to the vet instead of leaving them to die. Left mama tethered to a tree, left a note, and did what they thought was right. Were they wrong? She got loose and moved her babies to shelter, protecting them until the vet reopened. Nine puppies and a mama dog are now they’re safer then they would’ve been if the hunter didn’t step in. In Texas all the shelters are full and euthanasia is at an all-time high. Should the puppies and the mama be euthanized? We believe they need us before they are left with no other option. Bringing them to our sanctuary means they’re safe receiving o going vet care, food, vaccines, spay, neuter, and more. This is a lot of dogs, and we need all the helping hands we can get to get them to the sanctuary and dewormed as soon as possible because they’ve already been exposed to the outdoor elements and puppies with parasites perish fast. 😢 Every contribution helps us save this family. Can anybody foster or help us with contributions of any size? We have 72 hours at the very minimum we need to raise $1500 to get 10 pups shown a large enclosure situated in air conditioning at our sanctuary. What should we do?
