Updte9/30 - Hulk had gone home with Candace Andrews to foster him on Sunday. He had been doing well - somewhat improving. She was force feeding him, Making him walk and he would only walk very little, but she was giving the best care, cleaning his eyes, ears, giving meds. Early this morning we both did the happy dance when Hulk had actually pooped - Finally! P**p really looked good, it wasnt alot but he also wasnt eating much. Then as she went to check on him an hour later, he had passed away. He passed peacefully and loved. We are truly saddened. We have such high hopes for his recovery. The only solice we have is that Hulk passed away surrounded by love and not in a ditch alone and unwanted. This boy was definetly a wanted boy and I hope he knew that. I thank you for all of your help and prayers. Run free sweet boy - we love you!
Update- 9/25- I was concerned today with the amount of puss coming out of Hulks ear that I phoned the DR- he said to bring him right is- so I did. I had explained how I’ve been trying to soak up the puss and dr said that was good- that means the infection is draining from face. He still hasn’t eaten or drinken but I have been giving sub-q fluids with B12 twice a day. He still won’t walk and his eyes keep developing the film over them- he also still had fleas despite applying a topical. So today he got a sponge bath and he does not like touching his feet- he kept telling me that over and over - lol. When we arrived at the dr office- he said Hulk looks a lot better today than he did yesterday- he flushed and sucked out the gunk form his ears and he actually got him to eat a little food and drink some water- he told me Hulks condition is bad bad and this will be a long recovery but he believes he will recover. For now I have to make him eat and drink, I took home some I/D food that he seemed to like. He is very weak to walk so we slinged him with a towel under his belly so he could stand up and urinate- he seemed to like that but immediately fell back down and we carried him Back to bed. My heart breaks for him because I can see the gratitude in his face, I can see the frustration that he can’t stand to p*e-
I can’t wait for him to recover - he is such a good boy and with the way we were man handling him today - he gave no mind to it- you can tell he appreciates it- so for today- we are working on him.
Thank you for following along.
I received a call from a foster of mine regarding a dog in distress. He had somehow ended up in a ditch full of water and barely able to keep his head above to breathe. Breathing was not normal, he look’s horrible, he had been watched by a few people looking to help. Well my foster was able to locate him and asked for my help- how do I say no- we took him to the vet for a full work up- x-rays thinking he had been hit by a car, blood work to determine what is going on inside and given His face seemed to be swelling more and more every day. X-rays showed no broken bones but the bloodwork was not so kind. He has a major infection in his blood, his face is swelling with puss that also drains from his ear. He can not even walk and we’re thinking it’s the ear infection and he has mucas in his eyes. He is heartworm positive which is no surprises and the f***l showed every parasite known to dogs- I’ve never seen that many in an adult dog, or even a puppy for that matter. He was loaded with fleas and flea dirt- this poor baby has been through the wringer. He also has the beginning of skin cancer which is the least of his worries.
So- we have started antibiotics, drontal, fluids with b12 and we wait- we hope and pray the antibiotics help quickly. If the swelling in his face doesn’t go down on his own, we will need to have the fluid drained, but the dr wants to give the antibiotics time to work as fearing spreading the infection surgically.
As we won’t on this guy- let me welcome him to the Lucky Tails family- if not for the diligence of a special foster, this poor boy would have died on the streets - or ditch for that matter- welcome Hulk! Please say prayers for his recovery, we are fighting as hard as he will and hope for a positive outcome- say a little prayer for him- thank you- and if you like to donate for his care, we would appreciate that- his recovering will take time but it will be time well spent-
