We learned in the military to look out for the person beside us. That mission doesn’t end when the uniform comes off.

Today, Zen Gab Foundation is asking every Veteran to reach out to one fellow Veteran.

💜 And don’t be afraid to ask: “How are you REALLY doing?”

You don’t have to wait for someone to be in crisis to show up for them. Sometimes one conversation, one connection, or simply knowing someone cares can make a difference.

🌿 Spend at least 10 minutes outside and away from your phone.

🚶🏽 Move your body in a way that works for you—even gentle stretching or a short walk counts.

📱 Check on a fellow Veteran without waiting for a special occasion.

🎨 Make room for something therapeutic: art, music, fishing, gardening, journaling, cooking, or another activity that helps you decompress.

September 21–25, 2026 is Veteran Buddy Check Week.

The idea is simple but powerful: Veterans checking on Veterans.

Reach out to someone you served with, a Veteran you haven’t heard from lately, or someone who may simply need to know:

“I was thinking about you. How are you doing?”

You never know how much that one conversation may mean.

At Zen Gab Foundation, we understand that many veterans carry stress that doesn’t always show on the surface.
