Imagine a child learning to walk. The child falls over and over again. No loving father stands over that child screaming because they stumbled. Instead, he reaches down, picks them up, smiles, and encourages them to take another step. How much more does your heavenly Father respond with compassion toward His children? He is not counting your falls. He is leading you forward by His grace.

So today, stop beating yourself up over that mistake. Stop carrying what Jesus already carried. Stop punishing yourself for something that has already been nailed to the cross. Lift your eyes and look at Christ. The same Father who sent His Son for you is the Father who loves you right now. Not a future version of you. Not a better version of you. You. His love is deeper than your failure, stronger than your shame, and greater than anything you have ever done. And even in eternity, we will still be discovering just how loved we truly are.

I don’t think I truly understood what David meant in Psalm 23 when he said, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,” until I walked through a few valleys of my own. Because when life gets hard, our first instinct is usually to ask why. Why is this happening? Why is this taking so long? Why does it hurt so much? Why won’t God just remove it? But David didn’t say he stopped in the valley. He didn’t say he sat down and gave up. He didn’t say he spent all his time trying to figure out why he was there. He said he walked through it. That’s what faith looks like sometimes. Not having all the answers. Not knowing how everything is going to work out. Not seeing the whole picture. But choosing to keep moving anyway because you trust the God walking beside you. Some of you are in a valley right now. A valley of heartbreak. A valley of grief. A valley of anxiety. A valley of uncertainty. And if that’s you, I want to remind you of something: Valleys are places you go through, not places you’re meant to stay. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep showing up. One step at a time. One day at a time. Because the same God who is with you in the valley is already waiting for you on the other side of it. And what feels like the end of your story may actually be the beginning of a brand-new chapter.

The Bible frequently mentions seasons to illustrate God’s order in creation and human life. Genesis 1:14 describes God creating lights in the sky to mark signs, sacred times, and seasons, establishing a divine system of order for day, night, and the year. Psalm 104:19 notes, “The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down,” emphasizing God’s control over natural cycles. Ecclesiastes 3:1 famously states, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven,” highlighting that life unfolds in divinely appointed phases, from birth and death to planting and harvest, weeping and rejoicing, or mourning and dancing.

Seasons in the Bible are not only literal but also metaphorical, representing stages of spiritual growth and personal development. They teach patience, trust, and reliance on God’s timing.

For First Baptist Church, our season of Pastor Steve England and his wife Kimberly has ended per God’s timing and will and we will miss them greatly and wish them more blessings as they both continue the Lord’s work in another church.

Please continue to pray for First Baptist Church and we invite you to visit us each Sunday as we continue to worship our Savior.

We have been blessed with Pastor John McCray who will act as Interim Pastor for our church as we wait the Lord’s will in finding our next church leader.

Again, we thank Pastor Steve and Kim for everything – We love you and will miss you.

"A Godly Goodbye"

06/12/2026

There are seasons where God doesn’t immediately remove the situation… He removes your need to control it.

You pray for peace, but He teaches surrender.
You pray for answers, but He teaches trust.
You pray for change, but He first changes your heart.

And slowly, what used to shake you doesn’t move you the same way anymore.

Not because you stopped caring…
but because God is teaching you how to release what you were never meant to carry alone.

Some things only lose their power when you stop holding onto them so tightly.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10

Stillness isn’t weakness.
It’s trust in action.

Serving Under the Chief Shepherd

Copied:
Be Still
This verse is God’s gentle yet firm reminder in the middle of chaos. The psalm describes nations raging, kingdoms falling, and the earth shaking. And right in the middle of all that noise, God says: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Being still here doesn’t just mean sitting quietly; it means letting go. It’s surrender — dropping the illusion that you’re in control and recognizing that God is. He says, “Know that I am God.” That means when everything around you is unstable, He is still steady. When you don’t have the answers, He is still sovereign.

The second half of the verse is His guarantee: “I will be exalted.” In other words, whether people recognize it now or not, His glory will stand. Your stillness isn’t wasted — it’s how you step out of worry and step into worship. Chaos around us doesn’t require chaos within us. When we choose to be still, we’re reminding ourselves that He is in control.

I’ve had moments where I wanted to fix everything myself, but God told me to sit down and be still. "Don't say that... Don't do that... Let them handle it... It's not your fight... Your time in that position is up..." These seasons are uncomfortable, but they became the space where I learned to trust Him deeper.

When life feels out of control, pause and let God remind you He’s still in control. Take 5 minutes of intentional stillness today. No phone, no distractions. Just breathe and acknowledge: “You are God, and I trust You.” Stillness isn’t weakness; it’s trust in action. Shift from panic to praise — He will be exalted.
