Just a reminder about the upcoming Four Chaplains Memorial Service being held on Sunday, February 1st. This service is opened to the public and everyone is welcome.

The Four Chaplains (Methodist minister George L. Fox, Rabbi Alexander D. Goode, Reformed Church minister Clark V. Poling, and Catholic priest John P. Washington) are known for their extraordinary selflessness and bravery on Feb. 3, 1943, when they gave their life jackets to soldiers and went down with the sinking troopship SS Dorchester in the North Atlantic.

Ultimate Sacrifice: When the Dorchester was torpedoed, the chaplains calmed the panicked men, guided them to safety, and, when life jackets ran out, gave up their own to others.

Interfaith Unity: Representing three distinct faiths, they stood on the deck with arms linked, praying and singing together as the ship sank.

Honors: They were posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart, with Congress later creating a special, one-time-only medal for them.

"Immortal Chaplains": They are revered as an enduring symbol of courage and interfaith service, with February 3rd officially recognized as Four Chaplains Day.

It is with great sadness that I inform you that one of our members,
Susan Donovan, passed away this afternoon. Sue was an integral part of our Auxiliary for many years and always willing to help out in any way she could. Our sincere condolences go out to her family and friends. Rest in peace my friend - soar with the Angels.

Happy 126th birthday to the Veterans of Foreign Wars - VFW!

On this VFW Day we recognize tireless volunteerism and hard work of these veterans, who are Still Serving as they Honor the Dead by Helping the Living; we know No One Does More for Veterans.

We also remember those VFW members who are no longer with us, for their sacrifices, dedication and good deeds have far outlived them.

Many Auxiliary members joined under the eligibility of VFW members and view their veterans as their inspiration and “reason why,” in addition to being family.
