Chanco is nestled among 125 beautiful wooded acres along the James River in Surry, Virginia and serves as a space to provide a relaxed, comfortable environment to promote spiritual, personal and professional growth. Activities include swimming in the pool and river, a ropes course, tubing, paddle boarding, archery, arts & crafts, sailing, zip lines, canoeing & kayaking, skits and games, chaplain p

rogram, nature education and more. The retreat center provides a peaceful location, waterfront, ropes and nature activities, meeting space, lodging, and full-service accommodations for small and large groups.

Join us Saturday for high ropes, ziplines, and boating on the James River. The evening kicks off an all-night pavilion celebration with games, live music, and performances from alumni Hunter Rhodes and Nathan Hoyt.

Donโ€™t worry Chanco Parents, we are aware that Surry County is in flash floods alert but The Chanco on the James settlement is of a certain height above the river where this will not be a detriment to our ability to care for your children. Your children are dry and entertained as they cheer on their high-spirited counselors to be the best thumb wrestlers they can be!

We have moved camp inside today for the wildfires. But worry not parents we are still having an awesome time!
