The Eagle Marine Cadets (EMC) is a military based program for youth ages 8 to 18. López (USMC) in order to help the youth within his community. EMC started as an after school program within the facility of New Heights Academy Charter School and was only available for children attending NHACS. Miguel A. Why Do We Started This Program? * To show our youth that there is more to life than the life than drugs, gangs, and violence. * There is no other program like EMC within our community for our youth to attend. * To educate our community’s families that the military can be more than just a career. * To keep our youth off the drug, gang and violence invested streets. * To reduce the statistics on drugs, gangs, dropouts. * To show our youth that there are people who won’t give up on them even after they have given up on themselves.
