The SAU cheerleading team is hosting their first-ever end of the year 5K: STRAIGHT OUTTA 2020-2021 5K RUN/WALK. Sign up by May 1st for the race on May 8. You can join us on campus or run on your own. Hope to see you there!

We are inviting all students, alumni, and employees to fill out a bracket for the 2021 NCAA Men's D1 Basketball Tournament. Prizes of SAU swag will be handed out to the winners of each category as well as our overall winner!

A big shout out to alumni owned and operated, Marketplace Manna. Not only are they impacting lives around the world, but during the month of March, they are giving 5% of all online sales to the Spring Arbor University Arbor Fund. The SAU Arbor Fund is a student scholarship fund that impacts 92% of our students.

Alan Mellinger ’83 and wife Diane (Stevens ’80) are founders of Marketplace Manna, Inc. which operates the “Around the World Shops” in Jackson, and Okemos, MI as well as their online store. Along with their son, Casey Mellinger ’10 director of US operations, they partner with more than 20 like-minded organizations that serve people in more than 40 countries on five continents. Alan and Diane, currently serve as missionaries in the Balkans, primarily focused on economic development with the poor and unemployed.

“Marketplace Manna exists to help the poor, disenfranchised, persecuted, disabled and unemployed around the world” states Mellinger “What began as a way for us to help the folks we were serving in the Balkans has grown into something world-wide.”

We are excited to share a new project by 2005 alum, Eric Rose. CougarTalk- The Podcast: The Official Unofficial Voice of Cougar Athletics and More started as a student-run Saturday morning sports radio show that ran from 2002-2008. Rose has restarted CougarTalk as a podcast focusing on the stories of former SAU cougar athletes and teams.

Check out the first episode that aired today about Hank Burbridge who served at the helm of Cougar Baseball at Spring Arbor University for 40 years. Hank retired in 2004 with over 1,000 wins, placing him at the top of college baseball coaches in the country.

Celebrating Christmas is, for the Christian believer, a celebration of wonder and mystery. The curiosity of children looking at gifts brilliantly wrapped and mysteriously appearing under a tree while they are sleeping, is the image of the wonder and delight captured in the heart of the Christmas story. While this might quickly be lost in the hustle and bustle and flurry of activities like food preparation and exchanging of presents, we must be intentional in our remembering the meaning of Christmas...
