Controlled burn in Service Creek

Information: Controlled Burn - Service Creek

A controlled burn is currently taking place in the Service Creek area.

Heavy smoke may be visible throughout the area and could impact visibility on nearby roadways. Please drive with caution, slow down, and remain alert for changing conditions.

Please do not call 911 to report smoke in this area unless you see an active, uncontrolled fire with no firefighters or equipment nearby.

These burns are carefully managed, but your safety is our priority—so please use extra care if you are traveling through the area.

Planning a Prescribed Burn? Give Dispatch a Call First!

Fire Services & Law Enforcement across Wheeler County kindly asks for your help in keeping our emergency resources available where they’re truly needed.

If you’re planning a prescribed burn, please take a moment to call Frontier Regional 911 Dispatch at 541-384-2080 before you get started.

Letting Dispatch know your plans helps prevent unnecessary responses from our volunteer fire and emergency personnel.

This simple step helps:
• Reduce unnecessary emergency call-outs
• Keep our volunteers available for actual emergencies
• Save time, resources, and effort across our community

We appreciate everyone doing their part to keep Wheeler County safe—plus, it saves our volunteers from chasing smoke that’s already under control!

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support!
