Bobbie’s Pit Bull Rescue

Was created in early 2016, exclusively for charitable, educational purposes, more specifically to rescue, to rehabilitate, and ultimately find suitable homes specifically of the “bully” breeds like American Pit Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bully, American Bulldog, and mixes thereof. To act as a facilitating adoption partner with the local county animal control/animal shelters and in accordance with local and federal laws. We will educate and provide resources regarding the importance of spay/neuter, vaccinations and preventative measures, management and correction of behavioral problems and to work with low income and/or homeless individuals or families to allow them to care for and maintain a healthy and happy pet.

5 year old, longtime foster dog Frankie has been in our rescue since June 2022 when she was returned after being adopted out as a puppy. Her adopters lost their home and could not provide Frankie with what she needed. Frankie has always been a high energy girl, but also is very loving and goofy.

Last month, we decided to give Frankie some extra skills in hopes of making her more adoptable through a board and train program with Enriched Canine Training LLC. She has been getting consistent, daily exercise, and working on focus and obedience skills.

Frankie would be best in an active family. A home with a fenced in backyard would be a plus. She is not cat safe and would be best as the only dog in the home because she doesn't like sharing her toys. We know Frankie would be an awesome, loyal companion and would be happy ending the day cuddling on the couch with you. To continue working on what Frankie has learned, Enriched Canine will provide two complimentary training sessions for her adopter.

FREEDOM RIDE ALERT!

When we pulled the "Pot Luck" pups into our rescue, we promised the shelter that we would pull their mom as soon as we had a open foster home. Today was finally the day that 3-year-old Paige got her freedom ride. The shelter did an amazing job treating her skin and severe ear infections. As you can see, she looks a million times better. We know she feels better too. So much so, that she holds her ears straight up again. Now we know where Macaroni gets his cute ears from. Paige is heartworm positive. The shelter started her on doxycycline and spayed her...so no more puppies for this girl. Time to live your best life!

We know that you have barely finished decorating for Halloween, but it’s time to register for this year’s Bishop's Events' Thanksgiving Stuffing Stomp 5k & 10k on Saturday, November 14th at Hains Point in Washington DC sponsored by Caring Hands Veterinary Hospital . This flat course is runner, walker and stroller friendly with beautiful views of the Potomac River and DC landmarks. The 10k starts at 7:45am and the 5k at 8:00am.

If you are unfamiliar with Bishop's Events, they provide area runners with a weekly schedule of races. Each with a specific charity tie-in to whom they donated 25% of the race proceeds. Hence their slogan..."Racing to Give Back". We are grateful to be the Stuffing Stomp's charity benefactor again this year.

Back in July, we were contacted about a dog that had been living outside most of her life that was no longer wanted. After meeting her, two of our amazing foster parents decided to take her into their home. She was in very poor condition and we weren't sure how long she had. They named her Sophie.

Sophie had a severe UTI and inflammation in her lungs, dental disease, torn cruciate ligaments in her back legs, arthritis in her hips and spine, a damaged tail, fly bitten ears, overgrown nails, a large lump on her back and was Ehrlichia positive. Every step this girl took was painful. At over 13 years old, Sophie is not a candidate for surgery. Our vet gave Sophie her first ever vaccinations, put her on antibiotics and pain medication. We were going to provide supportive care and take it day by day.

Now two months later, Sophie is living her best life and being spoiled rotten. She still has difficulty walking and will remain as a sanctuary dog in our rescue. Sophie is happy and well care for.

Bobbie's volunteers Angie and Tim have fostered 19 dogs for our rescue since first adopting Pippi from us in October of 2019. They also adopted Ashe in July of 2020.

When they welcomed Meatball into their home as their 19th foster, they were not expecting him to steal their hearts but he did. Adding a new dog to the family is not just Angie and Tim's decision, it was up to their Great Dane Medic who usually doesn't warm up to the fosters but Meatball stole her heart too. Meatball fit in to the entire family of dogs, cat and grandchildren perfectly, so they made him an official member of their pack. We could not think of a more perfect home for him. Congratulations sweet boy! Happy Gotcha Day!

Tater (now Reggie) is the first Pot Luck pup to be adopted!

We have been telling you for over a month now how great, sweet and special all the boys in this litter are. First time foster mom Erin knew pretty quickly that Tater was the "one" she had to permanently add to her family and make it official last week. Congratulations to all! Happy Gotcha Day!
