HELP OUR LOCAL SHELTERS!

Today’s featured shelter dog is Panda in the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. Sadly, she has been in the shelter since December with no adoption interest. The shelter staff tells us that Panda is absolutely wonderful with humans but does need to be the only animal in her home and does have a high prey drive. 7 years young, she is spayed and heartworm negative.

This is what the shelter recently posted about Panda…
“Panda is a 7 year old sweetheart who absolutely adores people, but the loud shelter environment is becoming too much for her to handle. The noise has her stressed, and she’s currently experiencing nervous drooling. Panda is just too gentle and sensitive for kennel life.

When she is out of the kennel, Panda is a dream. She walks wonderfully on a leash and takes treats so gently. She would likely make a fantastic family dog for households with children. Panda is looking for a home where she can be the one and only dog, keeping all of her big love focused entirely on you.”

You can meet her every day (except Sunday and Monday) between 12-4pm at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Adopt-a-bull Pru has now been in our rescue for almost 18 months. She is as sweet as can be. Pru loves to snuggle and be massaged all over her body, something we believe she really enjoys given her back injury. Pru adores other dogs and loves playing with them. She is mobile on her back feet running all around the yard until she gets tired.

We know that Pru will need a special adopter who sees her personality is bigger than her handicap. Her foster mom tells us that Pru is her little sunshine. This past weekend two more of our Southern Belles started their next chapters in life.

Georgia is now an official member of the Hassall family. Her new mom and dad are looking forward to showing Georgia all the fun things to do in their area, introducing her to the other dogs and friends in the neighborhood and having her keep them company on home office days.

Scarlet's new dad Brian drove up to our Mutineer's event just to meet her. We knew right away that this might be a great fit for her when we heard he has chickens too just like her foster home. Scarlet will be a perfect sidekick going to work with dad, on travel adventures and pretty much everywhere dogs are allowed. And of course, her daily job at home will be helping with the chickens.

Two amazing homes for two amazing pups. Happy Gotcha Day! Congratulations to you all!

HELP OUR LOCAL SHELTERS!

Hey Rottweiler lovers, today’s featured shelter dog is Honey who has been in the Culpeper County Animal Shelter since February 7th. This pretty, smaller sized Rottie mix is an energetic, one year old. Honey is spayed, up to date with vaccinations and microchipped. She is good with other dogs and loves people.

Meet Honey a resident of the Culpeper County Animal Shelter, one of the sweetest young ladies you'll ever meet. Sadly, she spent the first year of her life tethered to a chain and was outside in the freezing cold when Animal Control checked on her. Thankfully she was surrendered to the shelter to find a loving caretaker who will treat her like a family member. Although she's full of energy, Honey prefers hanging out and getting belly rubs while in the play yard.

4 month old adopt-a-bull Charlotte is a little Southern belle with the sweetest, shy heart. She is all about cozy couch snuggles, watching TikTok’s, and showing off a head tilt and puppy eyes that will absolutely melt you. When out at adoption events with her siblings, Charlotte is easily identifiable by the small heart-shaped patch on her back.

Charlotte is great with people of all ages, others dogs and cats. She is crate and leash trained, knows how to sit and wait for treats or dinner, and rides well in a car. Charlotte doesn't mind bath time and sat nicely while her temp foster mom gave her a pretty pink manicure.

We know Charlotte would make an amazing addition to any active family that loves to take their dog everywhere they go...taking the kids to school, watching the game, exploring nature, hanging out on the patios of restaurants, breweries or wineries, or maybe just a Home Depot run.

HELP OUR LOCAL SHELTERS!
The Culpeper County Animal Shelter is out of space. 😭 They need our help spreading the word about the many great dogs looking for a home. So for National Rescue Dog Day, we would like to feature Blarney Bark.

Here is the shelter's recent Facebook post for Blarney...

There’s a dog here named Blarney Bark… and most days, he just sits and stares at the wall.
Not barking.
Not playing.
Not asking for attention.
Just… staring at the back of his kennel.
It’s the kind of quiet that breaks your heart if you stand there long enough. Like he’s waiting for something that never comes. Like he’s trying to remember what it felt like to be someone’s dog. One of the amazing staff members actually wrote him a love letter and taped it to the wall he stares at...."so he knows he's loved."

But here’s the part that makes it even harder—
The moment Blarney steps outside of that kennel… he changes.
He softens.
He leans into you.
His tail gives a hopeful wag.
He looks at you like he wants to believe again.
Out there, he’s not the dog staring at the wall.
He’s gentle. Sweet. Loving. The kind of dog who just wants to be close to someone.

And then… he has to go back inside.
Back to the walls.
Back to the silence.
Back to waiting.
Dogs like Blarney don’t belong behind kennel doors. They fade there.
He doesn’t need forever to prove himself. He just needs someone to see past the sadness… and give him a reason to stop staring at that wall.
