Cub Scout Pack 21

Rachel is a mom of three who is returning for her second year as a Cub Scout den leader for our Tigers. Last year, she led a combined Lion/Tiger den, so many of our returning Tigers already know her from when they were Lions! An performer at heart, Rachel enjoys bringing the creativity, hands-on learning, and STEM activities she uses in homeschooling into den meetings. She especially values helping Scouts develop practical skills for problem-solving and improvisation, while making plenty of room for play and outdoor exploration whenever the weather cooperates. When she's not putting together activities for our Tigers, she is a massive nerd who enjoys video games, movies, books, writing, and goofing off.
She's looking forward to seeing the returning Tigers again, meeting our new Tiger scouts, and working together with the parents to create good habits and fun memories this year.

Meet Ms. Ashley 🥾

Ashley is a proud mom of two Scouts and an active member of the Pack 21 family. Her family enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, and finding new adventures to experience together. This will be their second year involved in Scouting, and Ashley is excited to begin her first year as a Den Leader. She is passionate about creating a fun, engaging environment where Scouts can learn, grow, build confidence, and make lasting memories. Ashley especially enjoys finding creative and exciting activities to keep the Bears engaged, and she is always on the lookout for the next great adventure… or the next Pinterest idea! She looks forward to a wonderful year of Scouting and helping our Bears make memories that will last well beyond their time in the den ⚜️💙

Meet Our Cubmaster, Matthew Amador! ⚜️🐾

Matthew Amador is our Cubmaster for Pack 21 and an Information Technology professional who has found another passion in serving his community through Cub Scouting. For Matthew, Scouting is about much more than badges and activities… it’s about helping young people grow in confidence, character, leadership, and a love for the outdoors.

His dedication to Scouting has been recognized throughout the Mattaponi District, including Parent of the Year in 2022, Den Leader of the Year in 2023, and Cubmaster of the Year in both 2024 and 2025.

When he isn’t working or leading the Pack, Matthew can usually be found fishing, enjoying the outdoors, or finding another opportunity to lend a hand. He believes some of the most meaningful moments come from simply showing up, serving others, and helping create memories that Scouts will carry with them for years to come.

We’re incredibly grateful to have Matthew leading Pack 21 and helping make Scouting an unforgettable experience for our Scouts and families! ⚜️💙

🎃 A little planning today means a lot of fun this fall! 🌱

Our Scouts got their hands dirty planting pumpkin seeds as we kick off preparations for one of our favorite traditions! 🍂

With a little sunshine, rain, and patience, we’re hoping these tiny seeds grow into pumpkins just in time for our October Pack Meeting, where we’ll be painting and carving them together! 🎨🔪🎃

It’s a great reminder that Scouting is all about learning, teamwork, and watching the results of your hard work grow over time.

Congratulations James!

Troop 21 is proud to announce that one of our Scouts, James, has successfully passed is his Eagle Scout rank board of review. James has committed countless hours, days and weekends to not only his success in Scouting, but to the Troop as well. We look forward to seeing James continue to grow in Scouting as well as his personal life. He plans to use the knowledge, skills and abilities he has learned through Scouts to drive his success with a career in the railroad industry in the future. Maybe we will all be traveling in or on one of his future accomplishments one day!!

Congratulations Austin!!

Troop 21 is proud to announce that one of our Scouts, and Senior Patrol Leader, Austin has successfully passed is his Eagle Scout rank board of review. Austin has committed countless hours, days and weekends to not only his success in Scouting, but to the Troop as well. We look forward to seeing Austin continue to grow in Scouting as well as his personal life. This week, Austin is currently attending the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where his is participating in getting a glimpse of what it is like to attend the Academy as a student.

🦕⛺ What a ROAR-some week at Day Camp!

Our Pack 21 Scouts spent the week digging into the world of dinosaurs and fossils while making memories that will last long after the campfire goes out. From discovering prehistoric wonders to exploring the outdoors, our Scouts stayed busy all week long!

They tested their aim at BBs and archery, cast lines and reeled in fun at fishing, explored nature, and got hands-on with exciting STEAM activities. Most importantly, they built confidence, learned new skills, made new friends, and had an absolute blast doing it.

A huge thank you to the volunteers, leaders, and staff who helped make this incredible week possible. Judging by the smiles, laughter, and stories coming home each day, we’d call this year’s Day Camp a fossil-sized success!
