9/7/26: The Grey Ghost Chapter rumbled along the winding country byways of south central Virginia, the roar of our engines echoing through the vibrant Shenandoah valley as we made our way toward a forgotten piece of history.
We arrived at the remote, dilapidated grave of my Revolutionary War ancestor Col. Abraham Smith (1722-1782), where time and nature had swallowed the headstone.
We worked side by side to clear away the thick brush, scrape off decades of moss, and restore respect to the my patriot ancestor’s resting place.
Standing back to look at the clean stone under the open sky, we shared a quiet moment of reflection, deeply feeling the bond of our brotherhood and the pride of honoring my ancestor, Col. Abraham Smith. (Photos: Prospect Tom, Prospect Will and Chloe)
