Catch The Little Big Band this Saturday for Make Music Day! A vibrant seven-member group from Shell Lake, inspired by jazz, funk, and rock from the 1950s and ’60s. With a fresh, youthful energy, they aim to bring jazz to a new generation by reimagining timeless classics with a modern twist. Their lineup features WSMA award-winner Charlie Juza (tenor sax), vocalist Anna Symond, trumpeters Dylan Christel and Audrianna Bodizlaw, drummer Ella Kostner, trombonist William Malmin, and keyboardist Selene Johnson. From freshmen to juniors, they may be young—but they deliver a big, brassy sound. Whether you’re ready to jump, jive, or simply sway, The Little Big Band brings bold energy that keeps jazz alive and fresh!

We are very excited to have Yata and the Purple Pelicans performing with us again this year! Find them at the Arts in Hands Gallery from 5-6:30 on Make Music Day June 21st!

Yata (singer/songwriter/guitarist) has recorded twelve CD's of original music and received a Minnesota Music Award in Folk. There is joy in his playing which is responsive and intuitive, and reflects distant travels ranging from island calypso, Mississippi ragtime, rockin' blues to Americans folk songs of wit, humor and mirth. Weaving original melodies around the words of timeless poets (Yeats, Dickinson, Whitman) is his metier. Yata has been a guest artist on A Prairie Home Companion, Northern Spirit Radio, Simply Folk and Spectrum West. He'll be joined by his friends The Purple Pelican Band comprised of Esa and Terry Everroad and Rebecca Macone.

Meet one of our returning performers - Better Together Band!

A group of like minded individuals with a zest for playing music🎶🎵. The group plays regularly for Happy Days, an Alzheimer’s Respite Program, Dove in Spooner, Glenn View in Shell Lake. Often for veterans and other groups.

You can see them at the Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum from 10-12:30 on Make Music Day 2025!

Thank you 🎶 to everyone that helped us kick off the holiday season at our Advent Concert. ❤️ Each year the students that received awards and scholarships from our Spring Auditions perform a holiday piece. The program also included area musicians 🎶 It's a magical night showcasing the amazing talent here in our community! Thank you to the generous donations that will be used for next year's awards and scholarships to the Shell Lake Art Center.
