Create your own felted native wildflower and contribute to a larger sculpture with Spark Central, Spokane Zero Waste, and Growing Neighbors! We’ll be going over felting basics, so even if you’ve never felted before, you’ll leave with the skills to continue your new artist practice.

Every hero has an origin story, so let Spark Central’s immersive comic creation camp be part of yours! In Camp Ka-Blam! you can flex your storytelling muscles through world-building, enticing visuals, and dynamic characters. You will learn what makes pages come alive through sequential storytelling, including penciling, inking, and other comic creation techniques to share your artistic vision. All skill levels are welcome. At the end of the camp, you will fly away with a fully visualized comic for the world to see!

Dive into the art of printmaking at Making an Impression! You will explore techniques for creating repeatable images while learning the unique properties of printmaking tools and materials. You will have an opportunity to experiment with artistic methods, and to explore new processes and styles in a studio setting. By the end of this camp, each student will leave with a collection of original prints they’ve designed and produced.

Creativity meets sustainability in Rip & Reclaim, a unique collaboration between Spark Central and Spokane Zero Waste. Learn basic sewing and mending techniques, and find imaginative ways to repair or transform worn or discarded clothing. You will explore how creative fashion can divert textiles from the waste stream through upcycling and creative reuse. By the end of the session, you will walk away with a unique piece you have designed or restored that expresses your individual style.

End those blank-page blues by stepping into the world of storytelling! Teen Writers Workshop is a fiction camp where you will learn the fundamentals of collaborative workshopping, mapping your story structure, finding your unique voice, and creatively revising your work. To write an original story from the start, you will gain the tools to edit your own work, giving and offering supportive feedback with peers. Welcoming to beginners and experienced writers alike, this camp builds skills, confidence, and creative community. You’ll leave with the tools necessary to tell your original story.

Teen Writers Workshop is open to incoming 8th-12th graders. Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, 9am to 2pm.
