There are so many things to love about , but one of our favorites is the variety!

Of course we love that they're water efficient and pollinator friendly, and we sure enjoy helping folks get a great looking landscape using native keystone plants. With so many creative ways to design your SpokaneScape, each one is different, with almost endless possibilities!

Want your own unique landscape? We can help! Our next SpokaneScape 101 class is next Tuesday, June 9, at 5:30 PM at the WSU Extension located at 222 N Havana St.

This week's Water Wise Wednesday tip is a reminder to inspect your sprinklers! A great time to do it is right after you've mowed, to ensure that sprinkler heads are spraying where you want them to and not accidentally watering hardscapes instead. 😊

We'll have more tips here every Wednesday and anytime at WaterWiseSpokane.org.

We worked with Holy Family Hospital to help them save 7.2 million gallons of water and over $12,000 - in a single summer!

Through our *free* Commercial Consultation program, we worked with the Providence team to dial in their irrigation setup, while identifying problem areas that could be causing unnecessary water use. These days, their landscapes are happier and healthier than ever - while using less water! 💧

Keep more water on your landscape by watering in the morning!

By watering during the coolest part of the day, you'll lose less water to evaporation. That means more water stays where it's needed most - on your thirsty plants. 🌱

While Wednesday workshops are over for the season, we still have monthly SpokaneScape 101 classes throughout the summer and fall! Stay tuned for details on our next class.

Want to help keep our waterways healthy for humans, wildlife, and the fish? Use less chemicals!

When it comes to applying lawn chemicals - like pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers - we encourage you to use them sparingly, to avoid potential runoff that can impact our water.

It’s that time! We MAY just introduce this month’s Water Wise Plant…it’s Oregon Grape Holly! 🌼

Oregon Grape Holly (Mahonia aquifolium) is an evergreen shrub native to Washington state and the Pacific Northwest. This hardy plant is celebrated for its striking foliage that resembles holly leaves, with glossy, spiny edges that turn a beautiful bronze-red in winter. In spring, it produces clusters of fragrant, bright yellow flowers, which are followed by deep blue, edible berries. Not only does Oregon Grape Holly add year-round visual interest to gardens, but it also supports local wildlife by providing food and habitat. Ideal for shady areas, it is a versatile and low-maintenance choice for any landscape.

Come back in June for the next Water Wise Plant of the Month! 💧
