Women in Leadership: Past, Present & Future
Yesterday, we had an incredible conversation with women who have helped shape HBPA — Hispanic Business & Professional Association through their leadership, vision, and commitment to our community.

We reflected on the past — honoring the women who stepped forward and helped build HBPA into the organization it is today.

We celebrated the present — the women who continue to lead, serve, create opportunities, and strengthen our community through HBPA and Nuestras Raíces.

And most importantly, we talked about the future. 🌱

The past planted the roots. The present continues to grow. The future is ours to build.

El pasado sembró las raíces. El presente continúa creciendo. El futuro nos corresponde construirlo.

🌟 Celebrating Women in Leadership 🌟

Today, we’re honored to hear from Yvonne Lopez—Morton, a longtime community leader and former HBPA President and HBPA Foundation Board member who has been part of HBPA’s story since the 1990s.

Originally from New Mexico, Yvonne moved to Spokane in 1984 and has dedicated decades to serving our community through leadership with organizations including the Washington State Commission on Hispanic Affairs, Washington State Human Rights Commission, United Way, Leadership Spokane, Women Helping Women, and others.

Ven a aprender. Ven a conectar. 💜

🌿 SABES QUE? | Women’s Leadership: Past, Present & Future

There was a time in the early 2000s when HBPA’s leadership was made up entirely—or almost entirely—of women. Their vision, commitment, and leadership helped shape the organization and the community we continue to serve today.

This Thursday, we’re bringing that history into the present and looking toward the future as we talk about the women who have led HBPA, the women leading today, and the women who will lead tomorrow.

🎤 Our panel features three women who have each served on HBPA’s Executive Committee at the same time in 2015, repeating the story of Latinas shaping HBPAs future.

✨ Isabel — President
✨ Lili — Vice President (recently returning to this leadership role)
✨ Fernanda — Secretary

And we can’t forget Maria — Treasurer, another important part of that leadership team.

These women represent different chapters of HBPA’s story, but share a common thread: a commitment to community, leadership, and creating opportunities for those who come after us.

Join us this Thursday at Nuestras Raíces for an evening of stories, reflection, connection, and conversation.

Come learn. Come connect. Come be part of the future of HBPA. 💜
