My name is Denise Attwood and I am one of the original co-founders of Conscious Connections Foundation and have been working in Nepal since 1984 in our Fair Trade business, Ganesh Himal Trading. I LOVE and honor so deeply the work that CCF does because I witness dramatic change in women, girl’s and marginalized people’s lives as they gain knowledge, community, skills and respect from our programs. I have watched young women become dynamic leaders as CCF has supported the development of a Nepali run non-profit led by them. They are brave, bold and on the ground running. In this crazy, mixed up time in the world I witness daily the hope that these individuals bring to the world and I am so grateful for that good news.
We've been asked to choose our favorite blogpost from 2025 and it's tough! They are all incredible (and I hope you get a chance to read them) but if I have to choose it would be the post written by our partner in Nepal, Pema Yangkyi Gurung, who works with Drokpo Nepal. The blogpost is entitled, “Empowering Women in Mustang Through Menstrual Hygiene Management”.
In the post, Pema really shows the resilience of the CCF team going into very remote regions and connecting with women and girls who have little access to learning about their bodies and how to care for themselves. Pema shows just how these trainings open women’s eyes to each others' difficulties and creates conversation and community.
I hope you will read this wonderful piece about the work we are able to do with your help.
Namaste,
