Annika has been helping at the Millwood Community Garden for quite some time now! She has a generous spirit and is always willing to help with the kinds of tasks that make the garden more beautiful, from spreading wood chips to pulling weeds and more. Expanding what’s possible at the Millwood Community Garden. 🌱

With support from the Washington State Department of Agriculture, we were able to purchase a BCS two-wheel tractor and tiller attachment, helping us prepare new growing space for the season ahead. This newly cultivated area will soon be home to corn, pumpkins, and watermelons, allowing us to increase food production and continue growing fresh, local produce for our community. 🌽🍉🎃🚜

When Jeremy agreed to manage the Millwood Community Garden, he knew it would take a community to help it thrive. 🌱

After conversations with Johnny Edmondson from Growing Neighbors and permaculture design consultant Mary Bishop, one idea stood out: a food forest.

The goal? To make better use of unused space, create something beautiful and productive, and build on the connection this garden already has with neighbors who walk through every day.

A huge thank you to West Valley High School’s CTE program for supporting the Millwood Community Garden this season! 🌱

Students recently visited the garden to learn about our mission and explore ways to help through projects like signage, social media marketing, and creative culinary ideas on top of the amazing raised beds they built for us. They also jumped in to help with garden chores, which made a huge difference. We appreciate your support so much!

At Millwood Community Garden, so much of what we do is possible because of community partnerships.🌱

A huge thank you to Accurate Excavation for their support this year! They helped improve our garden entrance by bringing in gravel and leveling the space so cars won’t get stuck, and also prepared the area for our greenhouse. We’re so grateful for partners who help bring projects like this to life. 💚
