The City of Spokane has received $1 million in Wildfire Housing Assistance Funds from the Washington State Department of Commerce that will be passed through to residents impacted by and/or evacuated during the Spokane Complex Fire.

This funding will go directly toward rental assistance, utilities, and leasing costs. It also includes flexible funding which can be used for resources such as medical devices, furniture, gas, and more. The City has contracted locally with Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest who will be responsible for administering the funds locally.

**ANNOUNCEMENT** As of today, Monday August 24, we are continuing to support people displaced by the fires, but we are shifting our model for the rest of August and beyond. Feast will move back into normal operations, integrating our fire response meals into our regular service as we target longer term support for those who are displaced. Instead of a tent in front of our restaurant offering walkup meals, we are asking people who are displaced by fires to sign up with us by phone (509-608-1313), by email ([email protected]), or by social media direct message. We’ve already gotten contact info from many of you who have stopped by already, and we’ll be reaching out! But we also want to hear from others who we haven’t been able to feed yet. When you reach out, share a brief description of your situation (lost your home, long-term displacement due to damage, hosting those who are displaced, etc.) and we will work to use the remaining funding to offer e-gift cards to order food online or to dine in with us soon! Recovery will be a long season for many, and food is a practical need and a comfort. So leave dinner to us when it feels like you don’t have the energy to cook! Notes: in your message include your email address where we can send the gift card. Your contact info and story will be kept private and not shared publicly.

Since August 2, our chef partners have been honored to give away hundreds of free meals every single day thanks to generous local donors, dozens of amazing volunteers/staff, and partners like World Central Kitchen, Waters Meet Foundation, Rebuild.US, Starbucks Foundation, and other anonymous donors! Our support tent was the right first step in the weeks during and after the fires, and we’ve loved serving everyone who has come to us for the comfort of a hot meal. As we move into a season of targeted longer term support, we want to thank you, ! This community is full of love and resilience!
