Six months of showing up. That's what those letterman jackets mean.
Last night, Matt Mellott, Jeremy Foss, and Jeff Dorman earned theirs. The three men completed SpoFI's Dad2Dad program at the Steam Plant, surrounded by family, friends, and the men who walked the last six months alongside them.
isn't a quick class. It's six months of weekly meetings, honest conversations, and real work on the things that matter most: your kids, your relationships, and the man you're becoming. It takes something out of you. That's the point.
Ron Hauenstein, SpoFI's executive director, put it this way: "One of the special privileges I have at SpoFI is to walk with men on their journey to new relationships with their children, their families, their classmates and with God. The peak of this experience is our Dad2Dad course, a 6-month season of weekly meetings that lead to growth and healing."
Counselor Bill Frye guided this cohort through the whole journey. The words he spoke over each man last night were specific, earned observations from someone who had been in the room, week after week. These three showed up with quiet strength, resilience, and the kind of servant leadership that you can't fake.
Congratulations, Matt, Jeremy, and Jeff. Your kids are lucky to have you.
