Good morning, Shalom Friends! Once again, we are reaching out to ask for donations for our Dressing with Dignity Closet. We have been the recipient of so much of your generosity and are ever grateful. But, once again we are facing empty bins of our most needed items. As the weather turns warmer, we are in need of men's shorts and t-shirts. And, as usual, our men's pants sizes 28-36 have gone out as fast as they come in! The bins are empty. Blankets are always needed. The nights can get cold even in summer. We also could use women's 0-10 shorts and pants. Finally, we are in need of shoes, especially men's sizes 9-14. Thank you for always rising to the occasion and answering our call. Our diners are so thankful when we can meet their needs with such basic things. Please know how much you are appreciated for supporting the needs of our houseless community members!

Shalom Ministries Dining with Dignity sends a heartfelt thank you to the CHAS Street Medicine and Outreach Team!

Five days a week, they show up for our diners----bringing medical care, offering resource referrals, compassion and hope. Outreach even brings clothing every Thursday! In the month of May, they logged 92 medical visits and countless outreach contacts! They meet our diners exactly where they are, without judgment, with professionalism and kindness.

Sometimes that means providing care on the stage or at a back table in our dining room. Sometimes it's in a small room that doubles as storage for a piano and an incarcerated diner's belongings. Sometimes it's out in the parking lot. Wherever the need exists, CHAS shows up. Their work is a powerful reminder that dignity begins with being seen, heard and cared for.

Shalom is deeply grateful for this partnership and for the dedicated individuals who make it possible every single day.

Thank you, CHAS Street Medicine and Outreach Team. We appreciate you beyond measure.

Yesterday Shalom Dining with Dignity celebrated Kim and her 7 years of service on the Core Team! Over the years, Kim has worn many hats with grace, kindness and dedication. It doesn't matter whether she is prepping fruit for our hungry diners, doing a quick fill in at the flattop, welcoming guests at the door, cleaning tables, stepping up to coordinate the volunteer calendar or offering help wherever needed, she always serves with a happy heart and cheerful attitude. Kim's willingness to serve in both big and small ways has made a lasting impact on everyone around her. Her kindness, reliability and her caring spirit help make Shalom feel warm and welcoming to all who enter. Thank you, Kim, for seven years of faithful service, compassion and love for our diners and volunteers. We are so grateful for all you do. We love you!

Socks. Today Men's socks were in high demand. It was raining and feet were wet and cold. Our men's sock bins were empty. It was hard to say we had no socks. Shoes were also in demand.... especially size 10-14. When we think of the many miles our houseless folks walk each and every day, it is even sadder to have to say no to sock and shoe requests. And there are many. Not no because they don't deserve them, but no because we have none to offer. Can you help?

A meal nourishes the body.....but beauty feeds the soul.
Today Shalom's Dining with Dignity is especially grateful to Second Harvest for more than just nutritious food for our diners. Along with helping feed our community, they shared beautiful flowers that will bring lots of smiles when our diners arrive for breakfast tomorrow morning!
Sometimes kindness looks like a hot meal. And sometimes it looks like fresh flowers on the table, reminding people they are seen, valued and cared for.
Thank you, Second Harvest, for feeding both body and spirit. We are grateful.
