💯 agree to this. We preach that practice is an opportunity to improve and not just a time you get dropped off because you’re on a team or mom and dad and old me I had to be here. You should want to be there and want to want to get better. You should also be practicing on your own time.

As the 11u United Spokane Avalanche take the field today please remember this…..

As everyone knows this is Memorial Weekend. Some call it the official start of summer, some use it as their start to camping season and others are just glad to have three days off work. During this weekend, no matter what your activities, please take a few minutes and remember why you can enjoy this weekend with your family and friends. Many of our family members throughout the generations have served proudly and returned home to loved ones; however, many have not and these soldiers and sailors are the ones we remember daily and celebrate this weekend.

Fun Fact: On Memorial Day the flag is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.

The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.

United Spokane Avalanche 11U Player of the Week: Brooks Arnold

Brooks Arnold is new to the organization this year, stepping into an already established 11U team—but you’d never know it by the way he carries himself. From day one, Brooks has shown what it means to work. He grinds, he hustles, and he gives everything he has at every single practice and game.

Brooks strives to be a leader, and he proves it through his actions. Whether it’s encouraging his teammates, bringing energy to the dugout, or stepping up when his team needs him, he consistently leads by example. If he’s not at the plate or out on the field, you’ll find him on the fence cheering on his teammates or getting the next pitcher ready—always engaged, always contributing.

What truly sets Brooks apart is his attitude. No matter the situation, he shows up with positivity, effort, and a genuine love for the game.

When he’s not at the baseball field, you can still find Brooks putting in the work—whether it’s at a local park or in his own yard, continuing to improve his game. His dedication doesn’t stop when practice ends, and that commitment is a big reason why he continues to grow.

One of the things we admire most about Brooks is the way he handles having his dad as an Assistant Coach. When he steps onto the field, he sees him as a coach first—showing respect, listening, and putting in the work just like everyone else. That level of maturity speaks volumes about his character.

Dedication, grit, and love for the game—that’s what comes to mind when we think of Brooks Arnold. He embodies everything our program stands for, and we’re proud to have him as part of the Avalanche family.
