❤️ SPOKANE, WE STAND TOGETHER. ❤️
As the President of the United Spokane Avalanche, and more importantly, as a member of this community, my heart is absolutely broken for everyone affected by the devastating fires here in Spokane. No words can express or help what a lot of people are going through.
Continuing to watch the news and seeing the pictures, videos, commentary from news personnel, it hits home. I've driven through the South Indian Trail Neighborhood and I see the damage and it breaks my heart. A beautiful community that is gone.
We know several Avalanche families and former players who have been directly impacted. Some have lost their homes. Some are still evacuated. Some are sitting and waiting, not even knowing if their home is still standing.
My own family is among those currently affected and evacuated.
So when I say this hits close to home, I mean it.
When we started the United Spokane Avalanche, we talked a lot about community. We wanted to bring kids and families together through the game we love—baseball. We wanted to create something bigger than wins and losses, something built around family, friendship, character, and giving back.
But moments like this remind us what community really means.
It means putting everything else aside and coming together when our neighbors need us most.
This isn't about politics.
This isn't about nationality.
This isn't about religion.
This isn't about race, gender, or anything else that can divide us.
This is about people.
This is about families who are scared, hurting, displaced, and wondering what comes next.
This is about neighbors helping neighbors.
It's about offering a helping hand wherever and whenever we can.
It's about praying for those who need it.
It's about loving one another and remembering that, at the end of the day, we are all part of the same community.
We shouldn't have to be worrying about whether our homes are still standing while we're simply trying to enjoy the last weeks of summer before our kids head back to school.
This is heartbreaking.
To the firefighters, National Guard, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, utility crews, volunteers, and every single local hero working tirelessly to protect our community—thank you will never be enough. You are putting yourselves in harm's way while others are trying to get to safety, and we are incredibly grateful for every one of you.
And to every family affected by these fires:
The United Spokane Avalanche stands with you.
If you need food, we will be there.
If you need drinks or supplies, we will be there.
If you need a helping hand, we will be there.
If you simply need someone to stand beside you while you figure out what comes next, we will be there.

Over the course of the next few weeks/months as I hear about our baseball community affected, I will be sharing ways to help. Right now there are a lot of gofundme's for our baseball community and Avalanche families, I will continue to post those and share those on our page. I know times are really tough, but even $5, $10, $20, helps these families get back on their feet. I shared one last night of a family that is dear to the Avalanche family. While not a player in the organization, it is still a family important to us. Once an Avalanche, always an Avalanche. If you can donate to their gofundme that I posted, I know they would appreciate it.
We may not all wear the same uniform.
We may not all live in the same neighborhood.
We may not all agree on everything.
But right now, none of that matters.
We are Spokane.
And when one of our families hurts, we all hurt.
When one of our neighbors needs help, we help.
When one family is forced to evacuate, we make room.
And when our community is hurting, we stand together.
Please keep every family affected by these fires in your thoughts and prayers. And if you're in a position to help someone—please do. Even the smallest act of kindness can mean everything to a family going through the unimaginable.
