At a court of honor, our troop celebrates the past achievements such as merit badge awards and rank advancements of all the scouts at a potluck dinner. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, September 9, with PLC running from 6p-7p and the Troop Meeting from 7p-8:30p. As usual, we'll be meeting at Hamblen Presbyterian entering from the south parking lot. Our Annual Planning meeting in August covered a lot of topics, including changes to the structure of the boys troop, our calendar of events for the next 15 months, where we'll be camping, what topics we'll be learning about, and where we'll be attending summer camp....

Ethan Amestoy is rebuilding the seven garden beds and the surrounding landscaping at Camp Twinlow (where we spent a winter weekend earlier this year), and he needs your help. Volunteers are asked to come to Twinlow (near Rathdrum, ID) on Friday evening, August 29th, and stay through Sunday morning. Those who can't stay two nights can either come up and work Saturday and stay one night, working through Sunday, or just come for the full day Saturday....

Almost as soon as it began, Scouting America’s merit badge program began to evolve to better meet the needs of the Scouts of the time. There are no longer merit badges for Master-at-Arms, Citrus Fruit Culture and Farm Arrangements, but there are merit badges for Digital Technology, Environmental Science and Multisport. Recently, the troop had an unforgettable experience camping at Fowler’s Field while pursuing three merit badges: Astronomy, Space Exploration, and Aviation. They delved into the wonders of the night sky with special guest Liz, who shared her expertise on constellations. Thanks to the Spokane Astronomical Society, they enjoyed a captivating view of lunar craters, and they had the incredible opportunity to learn about the Air Race Classic directly from the Sky Queens themselves! To top it all off, they witnessed an exhilarating takeoff right before their eyes!
