There is a growing need to develop clear, community driven protocols for emerging technologies (especially AI) to make sure they align with Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles and, more importantly, long-term community priorities.

The GIDA IDSov & AI Workshop brings Indigenous data leaders, scholars, and advocates from around the world to directly address this need. Through seven focused workshops and a final implementation session, participants will explore practical strategies, shared insights, and actionable pathways for how Indigenous communities can engage with and navigate AI today.

This gathering builds on the momentum of the 2025 GIDSov Conference and reflects a coordinated effort to strengthen governance, data stewardship, and strategic planning in the era of rapidly advancing technologies.
